wow, my first journal ever (electronic or otherwise)!

over the past month or so I've been working on an entry for the GUI championship 2006, spending pretty much all the time I had on it...
Well, they finally announced the visual style finalist over at [link]
I was hoping to find myself on the list but that didn't happen

It feels like everything I've done in the past few weeks was in vain... but then again, it probably wasn't that meaningful to begin with anyway... I wonder why I started skinning in the first place? I still remember doing my first coolplayer skin, it was fun... finishing it gave me a great sense of accomplishment. Nowadays, I can only worry about how my work will be received by the masses... will I get any comments? fav+? I wonder how that other skin that looks like it took 10 minutes to make can be so wildly popular while mine receives 0 downloads/comments (it's called "minimalistic" I'm told... something I can't quite seem to learn to appreciate). I think it's gotten to the point where it's not worth it anymore... more frustration than fun for me.

Adding to that, my other designs endeavours haven't exactly gone well either... it seems as tho everything I do is being turned down these days, it's either "not good enough" or "good, but someone else's was better"...
